So, that was kind of wild. As I was driving home from work, I passed two cops sitting on the side of the road with their headlights on as I went down Rt 3. I saw them and slowed a little to not be going as fast and went on my way, not thinking a whole lot of it — a little strange, but not too abnormal. Then, as I was going down 128, I could see a number of flashing lights coming down the highway, apparently chasing something. Two pass a couple of lanes to the left and then a kind of beaten up white car passes me in the breakdown lane followed by another police car. Yes, I witnessed a high speed chase on my drive home — a first and kind of bizarre.

Long day today. Some frustrating bits, too, but so it goes. Set up a few more things on my new workstation and wrote down a few more things I found crashing. Oops. Having a 64 bit box as my workstation should help smooth a lot of this stuff out. Dinner with davej since he's in town for the week. Was good to sit and talk with him for a bit and I also gave him some fun historical bits. Tomorrow it's back to SELinux fun and maybe a little bit of upgrade poking.

  1. Very interesting that you saw the high speed chase. However, you haven’t lived until you are hit by the getaway car. This is what happened to my husband and I last year in Durham. It was freaky! What’s even more nerve-wracking is when you don’t know that it’s a police chase, the car hits you, keeps going, and two cop cars pass you by without slowing down. I can’t tell you how pissed we were that they didn’t stop. But, 5-10 minutes later when the emergency response units came, they explained that there had been an armed robbery and the cops were in high pursuit of the main suspect. Very cool!

I also have to tell you that no one paid for the damages on our car. Our insurance had to eat it! Yuck!

Anyway, I am glad that you didn’t “experience” a high speed chase like we did. Be careful up there in Beantown!
